Veganism is a big challenge, as it only allows one to eat a plant-based diet. Hence the question arises, How can we all unlock the power of a healthy gut and optimize our overall well-being by simply putting more plants on our plates?

The most comprehensive study ever to analyze the relationship between farming and the environment, revealed that the single biggest thing we can do to help fight climate change is to be vegan. It is found that while meat and dairy provide just 18% of calories and 37% of protein, it uses the vast majority- 83%- of farmland and produces 60% of agriculture’s greenhouse gas emissions. Hence it comprises the long-term effects of a vegan diet on the planet.

“A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact on the earth, not just greenhouse gases, but global acidification, eutrophication, land use and water use”, said Joseph poore, at the university of oxford, UK, who led the research. “It is far bigger than cutting down on your flights or buying an electric car,” he said, as these only cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Now, by the given piece of knowledge here is straightly saying that going vegan is not only good for humans but also for the planet and the environment.

5 Biggest challenges of a vegan diet

  • Social Gatherings

It is a myth that going vegan is easy unless and until you go out and have gathered with non-vegans. It’s just a thing that you should avoid and does not disclose that you are vegan. But hello, your friends or people surrounding start asking why are you not having non-vegetarian food or not even opting for the best of best cheese or paneer!! Because these are the hit dishes you get in options everywhere.

Here, let me share an example that happened to me last month: my personal vegan challenge, One day we had ice-cream at our office campus. The vegan option from the menu was out before I could even try it because people liked the vegan flavor more. Still, I cannot say, hey stop don’t eat all because I am vegan and have no other option. If I had said these lines there, then people could have started judging me like hell. In an addition, I started to feel like a criminal as I  have done something wrong while going vegan and made up my mind with so many negative thoughts.

  • Public Interactions

Vegans really work hard to hide being vegan as people misunderstood or judge them. Sometimes they become the stereotyped person or get a nickname like a “vegan diet jerk”. Participants described how selective disclosure of their vegan status could shield them from unwanted questions or attention. In the end, they try to behave as a vegan ambassador, by telling that going vegan is a healthy lifestyle.

  • Buying Grocery from supermarkets

Every city doesn’t have a vegan store as an option to buy stuff, especially when you live outskirts of the main city. Grocery shopping is the main challenge but I have always been quite good while reading ingredients though it says the vegetarian. But being vegan makes grocery shopping even worse, the reason is the ingredients say that they are animal-based. So, you left with few options only!

  • On a Vacation

If you plan for a vacation and it’s a beachside or a kind of an island then there is a worse feeling of choosing the food that could go on your plate with 100% nutrients. These types of areas offer only animal meat or dairy products. If you give a deep search for food then 1% you can find vegan food and that is on your good luck. Also, you have zero option to cook for yourself.

  • Dining Out

Finding Vegan food in a restaurant is like finding a needle in a sack of cotton. 99% of restaurants sell 5% of vegan food. Most of the dishes include yogurt (for marination), Butter for cooking also buttermilk as a side drink if you are out for lunch. Then the thought came out why dine out? It is best to cook vegan food at home and have it with a binge-watch.
