Transport Issue during Monsoon

In our country, India, the major issue that causes a lot of destruction are heavy rains during the monsoon months. All the industries suffer due to the rainy season and transportation is no exception. There are several challenges posed to the transport industry as well.The roads experience severe problems like cracking and potholes. Which has a deep impact on the transport system. Lot of accidents take place owing to the slippery roads and potholes growing in size due to water logging. The monsoon season begins around June in the western region and continues till September in other regions of the country.

Major transport issues that take place during monsoons are-

• Potholes and cracks widen- If there is continuous rain the existing potholes widen due to water logging. This causes heavy traffic jams as the water gets accumulated and this in turn weakens the pavement and creates resistance to the lorry’s moving on road. The cracks too widen and the pavement disintegrates which causes further destruction.  
• During monsoons the speed of vehicles get slow-Another big reason that the speed of vehicles get slow during rains. The lorry’s can’t move due to low visibility,  patch deterioration, poor drainage. The sewers cannot handle the rain water and it flows on the roads
• On-time delivery will not be possible- The severe downpour will cause delay and on time deliveries of the products will not be possible. There will be service interruptions as increased flooding on the roads will impact the road travel. Heavy storms can cause floods on the road and accessing the destinations on time will not be possible.
• Causes serious damages to the vehicles when they are on roads during the rainy season

Steps that should be taken by transport companies for monsoons 

• Delhi Transport Company are likely to be impacted by the change in climate and they should always be prepared for this. This will help mitigate the negative effects that are caused due to the heavy downpour. 

• It is important for the companies to have an insurance cover before they start their journey to avoid any major loss
• The working condition of all the parts of the vehicle should be checked and extra parts which could be needed during travel should be kept to keep you ready for monsoons. 
• All the metal parts that are exposed to the rain should be protected and anti-rust coating should be properly done as this will help you protect the expensive parts of the trucks during the rain.  
• Checking the fuel of the vehicle is also important
• All the insurance cover copies should be kept in the waterproof covers so that they are not damaged
• Keep all the vehicle care numbers in case of any emergency

To avoid these serious impacts the government is required to maintain the roads at frequent intervals, do the necessary repairs in order to avoid the cracks, potholes, and waterlogging during the monsoon season to ensure smooth transportation.
