Do you only have days before your flight to have a holiday trip to the Maldives? Before you jump on the plane, take a minute to follow everything on this to-do list to make sure you’ve packed the essentials and before you set off for the Maldives.

Prep is an important but often overlooked part of traveling. Don’t be one of those people constantly running around an hour before a flight trying to take care of things because they forgot everything they need. Instead, you want to be that cool and collected person everyone envies.

Check out this to-do list for everything you need to take care of before you jet off to the Maldives:

What You Need to Prepare Before Travelling to the Maldives

As much as you hate paperwork, documents for traveling to the Maldives are something you’ll have to pay close attention to. Take note of this checklist for all the pre-travel documents you’ll surely be needing.

  1. Tourist Visa

The great thing about the Maldives is it does not require pre-approval for the visa. A tourist visa in the Maldives will be granted for all nationalities on arrival.

Here a list of document you need to present for you to enter:

  • A passport (Check your passport’s expiry date)
  • If you don’t have a passport, a travel document (make sure it has MRZ or Machine Readable Zone with at least 1-month validity)
  • A hotel or accommodation booking or receipt (Always check the dates of the reservation beforehand)
  • Proof of funds for your stay in the Maldives
  • Return tickets to the home country (Best when printed and with digital copy)
  • Traveller Health Declaration (THD) (fill in and submit within 24 hours before their travel.
  •  Results for Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate and/or COVID-19 negative PCR, if applicable.
  1. Health Travel Documents

You should also prioritize your health. Taking a visit to the doctor is always advised before traveling to any destination. This way, you can know the medical measures as well as your current health situation.

You should also prepare these two things with you:

  • Travel insurance – you can’t be too confident with anything. So always have your travel insurance checked and read before you board the plane.
  • Vaccination shots cards – You need to be updated with anything that the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has established so you can have travel vaccines, medication, and other travel medical advice on hand.

2. Pack Everything You’ll Need

Which is the best luggage to bring? While prepping for your beach vacation in the Maldives, know that you have to carry the right luggage. You don’t want to be overpacked; that will only add up to the load and not make the trip as stress-free as you want and plan it to. As much as possible, make it light but complete with all the beach necessities.

Have a carry-on, a personal bag (for phones, cash, card, docs), and one checked bag (if you really have to). Your bags should be easy to carry, so use a duffel bag or a wheeled bag.

The great thing about going on a beach trip is that all the necessities are lightweight. You’ll be able to fit all the essentials in your bag without making it too heavy. Here is a list to make sure you are not leaving out anything important:

  • Sunscreen

Even if you are having fun under the sun, you should never forget to protect your skin. Pack a tube of sun cream for the face and the entire body, so you do not have to buy the expensive ones once you arrive.

  • Swimwear

Bring as many as you’ll need for your trip. Choose different styles so that you always have something cute to wear to the beach. A few rash guards will also help keep you safe on beach activities.

  • Sunglasses and sunhat

Aside from the suncream, you’ll surely be needing these two to protect your eyes and head from the scorching heat of the sun.

  • A good book or a digital e-reader

While tanning or just maybe lounging on the beachside, you’ll need something to entertain you. You can bring the book or an Ebook reader of your choice.

  • A beach bag and a dry bag

You’ll need somewhere to put your phones, sun cream, and book when you’re on the beach. Also, having a dry bag will be especially useful when you want to go on an adventure like scuba diving because it will keep your clothes and electronics dry.

  • Camera

Bring an underwater camera or your own drone if you have one. The views of the Maldives are incredible, and you won’t want to miss the chance to take the best shots.

  • Diving outfits

After you’ll be handed lots of attractive travel brochures in the Maldives, you can’t say no to go scuba diving. If you don’t have your own, you can also rent from rental shops in the Maldives.

  • Chargers and adapters

Bringing your own charger is obvious, but did you know that chargers aren’t always universal? You should bring your own adapter if the hotel you’ll be staying in will not provide you any.

  • Toiletries

Don’t forget about hygiene while you have the best trip of your life. Pack your electric toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and soap. In the same vein, bring all the skincare products and makeup you’ll need!

  • Survival kit

Better safe than sorry, so pack some of your prescription medications, ibuprofen, Neosporin, and bandaids to make sure you can take care of any minor injury or pain.

  • Headphones or earbuds

Good music will be your friend when traveling and when relaxing on the beach.

3. Take care of the extras

There is a list that many people forget. These are the little things that keep them safe while on vacation and keep your homes protected from anything bad that could happen. Before your departure, consider these important steps:

  • Hand a copy of your itinerary to a family member
  • Notify your bank of your destinations
  • Halt all your deliveries as well as the mails
  • Pay bills beforehand
  • Better to unplug the appliances.
  • Clean out the fridge.
  • Do a triple-check the door and window locks.
  • Have your house lights on timers
  • Board your pets or have someone to take care of them
  • Keep valuables safe such as money, jewelry, house documents.
  • Set security cameras and alarms

Ready to see the Maldives in person and not just on glossy travel brochures? Make sure you follow each step of this to-do list. Not only will it keep you stocked and safe on your trip, but you won’t have to worry about anything on your trip when you do all the prep beforehand.
